Welcome to the official
website of DG Play, a new play forum managed by The Bridge Dumfries & Galloway, a voluntary sector support organisation
and Scottish Charity.
Our remit is to enable play providers and partners to work together to support the development
of quality play and free play provision for children and young people aged 5-13 years in Dumfries and Galloway.
We aim to:
- Work with DG Play
members to support the development of new and existing free play opportunities
- Liaise with appropriate partners and statutory agencies to promote free play opportunities
- Arrange and facilitate DG Play meetings and activities, including development of good practice
guides
- Raise the profile of the play sector in Dumfries & Galloway.
Why
is this project important?
Because play is how children learn about the world, themselves and each other. What adults
often dismiss as ‘just play’ - tree climbing, den building, hide-and-seek and make-believe - is an important part
of children's development.
